VESTIGE
JASON PEOT
PAINTED STAINLESS STEEL AND SALVAGED STEEL
ELMHURST FIRE STATION #2, ELMHURST, IL
The two structures of Vestige are reminiscent of the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Although these forms may conjure memories of that dark day, their evolving structure and white finish evoke a sense of optimism and look to the future. At the core of the sculpture is a 13-foot street rail, twisted and broken, and salvaged from the wreckage of 9/11.
The rail was gifted by the New York Port Authority to the City of Elmhurst.
