SÓLACE STAR

Sólace Star by Nicole Beck was installed at the outdoor garden area of the Quincy Veterans Home in 2024. The 15’ tall sculpture made of rolled stainless steel, and custom-laminated dichroic and prismatic glass, contains integrated LED lighting and a concrete seating platform with mosaic seatback panels. The sculpture offers veterans, visitors, and caretakers a much needed respite within the garden.

The commission was awarded to Beck by the Capital Development Board of Illinois Art-in-Architecture Program. Vector was hired to fabricate the stainless components of the sculpture. Chicago Metal Rolled Products assisted with the rolling and bending required for the piece. The mosaic components were custom made by Nicole in her studio.
