CURTAIN WALL
SABRINA RAAF
STEEL, EXTRUDED PLASTIC, LED LIGHTING, VIDEO TILE DISPLAY, AND INTERACTIVE LIGHT DISPLAY
MCCORMICK PLACE, CHICAGO, IL
Curtain Wall by Sabrina Raaf is a suspended site-specific artwork that simultaneously recreates and bends the facade of the McCormick Place building that houses it. The building structure is manipulated until it takes on the form of a curtain blowing freely in the wind. As is often the case with Raaf’s work, Curtain Wall changes in response to its environment. The artwork is set in motion by the noise its visitors create. Variations in both volume and pitch alter the wind-like movement of the artwork.
