Vector is seeking to hire a full-time steel detailer to assist in creating fabrication drawings for our shop. Remote and onsite work will be required. Hourly compensation $18-24, commensurate with experience, plus health benefits, paid vacation, overtime and sick pay. Vector is an equal opportunity employer.


  • Read and interpret architectural/design drawings to identify scope of work and design intent

  • Determine appropriate solutions in conjunction with project manager and sales team

  • Learn and understand shop fabrication processes to provide optimal design communication and promote workflow

  • Model buildable design solutions and produce detailed 2D drawings for customer approval and shop fabrication 

  • Take accurate field measurements and adjust drawings as required 

  • Check drawings and materials lists for errors 

  • Produce material lists and drawings for purchasing as required 

  • Produce detailed bills of materials for accurate production and product delivery

  • Coordinate with supervisors, customers, engineers, architects, project managers, shop fabricators, and other trades and subcontractors to produce an excellent finished product, on time and under budget


  • Bachelor of Fine Arts degree preferred, but not required 

  • Associates Degree or Technical training in CAD drafting a plus

  • Minimum 3 years experience 3D modeling required. Proficiency in SolidWorks is preferred, but experience with Tekla, Advanced Steel, Rhino, Sketchup etc is appreciated 

  • Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD required

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, including email correspondence, record keeping, and hand sketches for use with team members, vendors and customers. 

  • Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, Acrobat

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete various tasks on multiple projects

  • Self-motivated problem solver, eager to learn new skills and put them to the test in a collaborative, fast paced environment

  • Strong interest in metal fabrication, especially sculpture and architectural metals

  • Experience in manufacturing processes, techniques and materials

  • Knowledge of hand and power tools and any fabricating experience is helpful 




Vector is seeking to hire a full-time metal fitter/fabricator. Hourly compensation $18-24, commensurate with experience, plus health benefits, paid vacation, overtime and sick pay.  Standard work hours are 8am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Vector is an equal opportunity employer.


  • Ability to read shop/construction drawings, use measuring tools, and do math calculations

  • Developing layouts and plan sequence of operations

  • Awareness of personal and workplace safety 

  • Understanding and experience with basic metal fabrication equipment, including hand tools as well as industry standard power tools. 

  • Tools used include, shear, iron worker, band/cold saw, drill press, plasma torch, oxy/acetylene, bench grinder, coping machine, table saw, and others. Specific skills include the following

    • cutting and fitting to tight tolerances

    • welding TIG, MIG - steel, stainless, aluminum

    • grinding - MUST be proficient with 4 1/2" grinder

    • finishing - e.g., directional stainless steel, hand rubbed, etc.

    • priming and painting 

    • rigging and overhead crane experience


  • Valid driver's license

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience (3 years preferred, willing to train the right candidate) in the metal fabrication industry and a desire to learn new skills

  • Well-developed organizational and communication skills, including strong and consistent attention to detail and time management

  • Ability to envision creative solutions to problems as they arise, both independently and collaboratively

  • Interest and knowledge of sculptural arts

  • Experience with machining/lathe, brazing/soldering, and chemical patinas

  • Basic woodworking skills

  • Understanding of machinery/tool maintenance and repair
